Special Adoption Center Opened to Facilitate Legal Adoption of Children

Vijayapura
District authorities have encouraged childless couples to adopt children through a newly inaugurated Special Adoption Center, emphasizing the importance of legal adoption and child welfare.
District Commissioner Dr. Anand K. stated that orphaned children aged between 0 and 6 years can now be adopted through the Special Adoption Center, ensuring they grow up in a nurturing family environment. He made these remarks while inaugurating a government-run adoption facility at a children’s home in the city.

He explained that the initiative aims to provide orphaned and abandoned children with a safe and caring upbringing, transforming them into responsible citizens. The adoption process will strictly follow the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, and the Adoption Regulations, 2017, ensuring transparency and legality.

Dr. Anand K. emphasized that individuals or couples without children can legally adopt through the authorized center. At the same time, he cautioned against illegal adoption practices, stating that directly taking custody of a child without following legal procedures is a punishable offense under the law. Authorities have provisions to take strict action against such violations.

He further noted that children in need of care and protection can also be admitted to government adoption centers, where they will receive proper support and rehabilitation. The facility is designed to safeguard the rights of children while also providing a structured and lawful pathway for prospective parents.

Officials highlighted that the center will play a vital role in connecting children with families while ensuring their well-being and future security. The initiative is expected to create awareness about ethical adoption practices and discourage unauthorized methods.

The event was attended by district officials, child welfare authorities, and members of child protection committees. They reiterated the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring that every child grows up in a safe and loving environment.

The inauguration marks a significant step towards strengthening child welfare systems and promoting legal adoption as a means to provide better opportunities for orphaned and vulnerable.
