Indian women hockey players Beauty Dung Dung and Sangita Kumari are feeling excited ahead of the second season of the Women’s Hockey India League, which will begin on December 28. The two Ranchi Royals players are especially happy about the chance to play alongside famous Argentine stars Agustina Albertario and Agostina Alonso in the upcoming season.
Argentina is one of the strongest teams in women’s hockey and has won silver at the Tokyo Olympics and bronze at the Paris Olympics. Beauty and Sangita believe sharing the field and dressing room with such experienced players will help them improve their game. They said the Argentine players bring valuable experience and learning opportunities, which young Indian players can benefit from during the league.
Both players are also looking forward to playing matches in Ranchi, their home city. They said hockey fans in Ranchi are very passionate and always turn up in large numbers to support the teams. Playing in front of family and local supporters makes the experience even more special for them.
Sangita and Beauty made their India debut in 2021 and have since played in several major tournaments. Sangita has scored 30 goals for India, while Beauty has added six. They now hope to use the league as good preparation for future international events, including the Olympic Qualifiers in Hyderabad.
The players also praised the Hockey India League for giving young and junior players a chance to play with top international stars. They said this exposure helps raise standards and builds confidence. The Women’s Hockey India League will open with hosts Ranchi Royals facing SG Pipers, with matches shown live on television and online platforms.
