Ram Gopal Varma seeks forgiveness from Chiranjeevi

Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has extended a heartfelt apology to Megastar Chiranjeevi, marking a moment of reconciliation in Telugu cinema. Years ago, Varma had made several controversial comments about Chiranjeevi and even took indirect jabs at Pawan Kalyan through his movies. However, the director now appears to have left those disputes behind, focusing once again on what he loves most — making films.

Varma has recently resumed directing in Hindi, signaling a creative comeback. Meanwhile, his legendary debut film Shiva, considered a landmark in Telugu film history, is all set for a grand re-release in 4K Dolby Atmos. Ahead of the re-release, Chiranjeevi shared a video recalling the tremendous impact Shiva had when it first hit theaters in 1989.

In his message, the Megastar praised Nagarjuna Akkineni for his powerful performance and credited Varma for bringing a revolutionary touch to filmmaking. “I thought then that this young filmmaker would rule the industry,” Chiranjeevi fondly said.

Responding with humility, Ram Gopal Varma apologized for unintentionally hurting Chiranjeevi in the past and expressed his deep respect for the actor’s generosity. Shiva 4K will arrive in theaters on November 14, 2025, promising to rekindle nostalgia for a true classic.
