A farmer, Manjegowda (55) from Moodanahalli village in K.R. Pete taluk, who had attempted self-immolation at Cauvery Park on Tuesday, succumbed to his injuries at Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Agriculture and District In-charge Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy visited the hospital, paid his respects, and consoled the bereaved family. He announced ₹5 lakh compensation for the farmer’s family and assured that he would discuss with the Chief Minister to provide additional relief. The minister also promised to conduct a joint land survey regarding Manjegowda’s disputed property and, if it does not belong to the Forest Department, to allot it to his family. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kumar and other officials were also present.
