Tejasvi Surya launches Jayanagar PNG project

Tejasvi Surya, Member of Parliament from Bengaluru South, inaugurated the pipeline natural gas (PNG) project at SBI Colony in J.P. Nagar Phase 1 on Sunday. The project marks a significant step towards providing city households with a cleaner, safer, and more cost-effective energy alternative.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Surya highlighted the economic benefits of PNG connections, noting that families can save an average of Rs 200 to Rs 300 per cylinder. Unlike conventional LPG, PNG is considered safer and more convenient for household use. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of achieving 100% PNG coverage in Bengaluru, contributing to a sustainable and modern urban energy infrastructure.

In Bengaluru South, residents of Bommanahalli and BTM Assembly constituencies have already begun receiving PNG connections. The new project at SBI Layout is estimated to cost between Rs 1.5 and 2 crore, with the entire system being provided by GAIL Gas Limited. The installation aims to improve accessibility and ensure uninterrupted gas supply for domestic users in the area.

Officials emphasized that the project not only reduces the financial burden on households but also promotes a cleaner environment by reducing reliance on conventional LPG cylinders. The rollout is expected to enhance energy efficiency and convenience for thousands of residents.

Residents welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism about safer, cost-effective, and reliable gas connections. The project reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing urban energy infrastructure while prioritizing citizen welfare and sustainable development.
