Bengaluru hosts women’s health drive

The “Swastha Nari, Sashakta Parivar Abhiyan” program was successfully conducted at Silicon City College and the Urban Primary Health Center, KR Puram, aiming to raise awareness about women’s health and family well-being. The initiative emphasised the importance of women’s health as the foundation of a strong family and encouraged proactive participation in health care.

The program was led by Silicon City College Chairman Dr. Chandrashekhar Radha and attended by several health experts, including Dr. Savita, Health Officer of Bangalore East City Corporation; Dr. Visvesvaraya from KR Puram Division; Dr. Nisarga from Namma Clinic Bhattarahalli; Dr. Bhavana from Urban Regional Health Center, KR Puram; ophthalmologist Dr. Shamshiya Naj from KR Puram Public Hospital; and Shri Gururaj, Senior Health Inspector of Sakki Ond Central Public Hospital. Dr. Sudha also joined the event.

Organised in collaboration with the local health department, the program focused on maternal and child care, nutrition, and prevention of diseases such as anemia and tuberculosis. Experts highlighted the importance of early intervention, regular checkups, and strong links between hospitals, anganwadis, and local health centers to improve women’s healthcare outcomes.

Students and teachers of Silicon City College actively participated, gaining knowledge and inspiration to engage in community health initiatives. Officials from the Women and Child Development Department, health workers, and social activists addressed the audience, providing valuable insights into common health challenges faced by women. The event combined education with community engagement, leaving a lasting impact on attendees and encouraging collective efforts toward healthier families in Bengaluru.
