Officials plan stricter lane discipline, signal sync, and CCTV monitoring to ease congestion.
The Commissioner of Bengaluru Central City Corporation, Shri Rajendra Cholan, conducted a comprehensive inspection of Gandhi Bazaar Road, the newly constructed Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP), Vani Vilas Road, and surrounding stretches on Tuesday. The visit was aimed at reviewing civic infrastructure, traffic management, and overall development works in one of the city’s busiest commercial and residential zones.
At Gandhi Bazaar Road, a hub for traditional markets and daily commerce, the Commissioner assessed pedestrian movement, traffic flow, and encroachment issues. He directed officials to ensure that footpaths remain accessible, street lighting is functional, and ongoing civic works are completed on schedule without disrupting traders and shoppers.
The inspection also covered the newly built MLCP facility, a long-awaited project designed to address severe parking shortages in the area. The Commissioner reviewed its readiness and instructed staff to ensure smooth operational systems so that the facility can significantly ease congestion in and around Gandhi Bazaar. On Vani Vilas Road and connecting stretches, the focus was on pothole repairs, drainage strengthening, and traffic safety measures. Cholan emphasized coordination between civic engineers and traffic police to resolve bottlenecks and maintain free movement.
Officials accompanying him highlighted that beautification works, road surface improvements, and better signage are also part of the development plan for the area. The Greater Bengaluru Authority confirmed that such inspections will be conducted regularly across Central Bengaluru to monitor progress and ensure accountability. Residents welcomed the visit, hoping it would translate into lasting improvements in traffic flow and civic amenities.
