Greater Bengaluru Integrated Township (GBIT): India’s First AI-Powered Integrated City

Bengaluru South District

The Government of Karnataka has unveiled plans for the Greater Bengaluru Integrated Township (GBIT) at Bidadi, 30 km from Bengaluru. Envisioned as India’s first and largest AI-powered city, GBIT will span 8,493 acres across nine villages, positioning itself as Bengaluru’s second Central Business District.

Key Highlights:

  • Economic Growth: Over 2,000 acres earmarked for AI industries, connected by a 300m-wide economic corridor linking STRR, NICE Road, NH-209 and NH-275.
  • Employment: Expected to generate lakhs of jobs with a “local first” employment policy and skilling centres for future-ready industries.
  • Urban Mobility: Designed with 70m arterial roads, ring roads and expressways to ease Bengaluru’s congestion and promote walk-to-work culture.
  • Quality of Life: Integrated housing, healthcare, education, culture, and over 1,100 acres of parks for a sustainable city.

Farmer-Centric Approach:

Farmers will be treated as partners with a robust Rehabilitation and Resettlement policy, annual annuities, housing sites, tax exemptions, and skilling support. Villages within the township will be upgraded with smart-city amenities while retaining community spaces.

Implementation Timeline:

  • Preliminary Notification issued: March 12, 2025
  • Joint Measurement Certification: September 11, 2025 (to be completed in 90 days)
  • Final Notification: December 2025
  • Compensation Disbursal: Within 30 days of acquisition
  • Project Completion: Within 3 years

With ₹20,000+ crore in financial resources secured, GBIT promises to redefine Bengaluru’s growth with sustainable infrastructure, global investment opportunities, and inclusive development.
