Ajith’s ‘AK 64’: No-Salary Deal After ₹200 Cr Demand

After delivering two films this year, Ajith Kumar is back in the spotlight with his upcoming project AK 64. His February release Vidaamuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, could not impress audiences, but the April release Good Bad Ugly by Adhik Ravichandran turned out to be a massive success. Following this, Ajith once again teamed up with Adhik for AK 64, which has already created a buzz among fans.

The film is said to be in its early stages, with Srinidhi Shetty of KGF fame expected to play the female lead and GV Prakash onboard as the music composer. Reports also suggest that AK 64 might be a gangster drama, adding to the excitement.

Interestingly, the project faced hurdles during its production discussions. Ajith reportedly demanded a salary of ₹200 crore, which led several big production houses to step back. Later, distributor Rahul, who had worked on Ajith’s earlier films, stepped in to bankroll the movie. However, instead of the usual payment model, a new deal was reportedly made. According to media reports, Ajith will not take a fixed salary. Instead, he will receive complete revenue from the OTT and satellite rights, while the producer will retain the theatrical earnings.

This unique arrangement has become a hot topic in Tamil cinema. Though Ajith’s team has not officially confirmed the deal, fans are eagerly waiting for updates. Shooting is expected to begin in November, with Ajith balancing his film career alongside his passion for racing.
