The City Police have recommended cancellation of driving licences of 170 drivers in city for violating traffic rules. A proposal has been submitted to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) for suspension of Driving Licenses under the Indian Code 1860 and the Indian Motor Vehicles Act 1988/2019 from July 27, 2022 to June 6, 2023.
As many as 24 cases of accidents, 12 cases of over-speeding and negligence, 11 cases of transporting goods transport vehicles, 5 cases of use of mobile phones while driving, 7 cases of red signal jumping, 3 cases of triple riding, 95 cases of riding without helmet case and 13 cases of not having seat belts have been recommended for cancellation of driving licenses of motorists.
In the last 11 days, 89 cases of over-loading of passengers in vehicles and six cases of driving against one-way traffic have been registered to avoid loss of life due to vehicle accidents.
Similarly, City Police Commissionerate has conducted a special drive every month on phone-in programmes and traffic contact days as complained by the public. Accordingly, 371-wheel clamps have been put up for wrong parking. Police said 31 hoarse horns and 23 tints of glass were removed.
