The Tahsildar of Sub-Divisional Office, Ashok Mannikeri, died of cardiac arrest. Ashok’s sisters alleged that it was not a natural death. They have lodged a complaint with the Police in this regard. Ashok Mannikeri’s wife Bhoomi and brother Samuel have been charged with murder.
Ashok Mannikeri’s family lived in an apartment in Kali Ambraya in the city. Ashok was being taken to a private hospital by his wife and brother as he suffered a heart attack late at night. But by then, Ashok Mannikeri had died.
Ashok’s family members have lodged a complaint with the City’s Camp Police demanding a probe into his death. Friends and relatives had gathered in front of the Police station. His wife Bhumi and brother Samuel were attacked when they came to the Police station. The police immediately intervened and rescued Bhumi and Samuel.
Ashok Mannikeri had worked as a Personal Assistant to Laxmi Hebbalkar, who won the 2018 assembly elections. There should be an inquiry into my brother’s death. We should get justice, said Ashok Mannikeri’s elder sister Girija.
