Act Now Or Face The Music, Minister Satish Jarkiholi To Officials

Attend to all complaints in the next three months or face the music, Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi warned the officials of   City Corporation, after conducting a review meeting on various development works.
At the meeting, leaders of various organisations and NGOs and corporators raised various issues, especially concerned to alleged sub-standard works implemented under Smart City Limited   and water crisis in the city.

AAP leader Rajkumar Topannavar alleged that most of the works taken up under BSCL, including command and control centre, are sub-standard and need to be thoroughly investigated. Local third-party agencies, KLE and GIT Engineering Colleges have given bogus clearance certificates and hence third party clearance  is required, he said. City North MLA Asif Sait asked why the works finalised in the first phase were changed in the second phase, and demanded to know the details.
Many corporators and citizens complained about irregular, unscheduled and contaminated water supply in most of the wards. Citizens took the officials of L&T to task for the problems in water supply and negligence towards public complaints.  MLA Abhay Patil said it is better that the new government in the state order a probe into all the development works held in city in the past five years, especially works taken up under BSCL. Take action if the works were done illegally or violated the norms, he said.
Jarkiholi said separate meetings will be held to discuss the issues concerning Urban Development Authority, PWD, HESCOM and health-related issues. There are many complaints from the public. We are giving three months to officials. If they are not changing their working style, action will be initiated, he warned.
Women and Child Welfare Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, MLCs Channaraj Hattiholi and Sabanna Talawar were present.
