Remains Of Dead Elephant Discovered

Girinagar station police found the remains of a dead elephant whose tusks were stolen in the Bettadalasur forest area near Kodihalli in Kanakapura taluk of Ramanagara district. The accused showed the skeleton of an elephant whose tusks they had snatched from a forest area of Kanakapura taluk. Bones and skull of an elephant were found at the scene. When these were inspected in cooperation with the officials of the forest department, it was estimated that the age of the dead elephant could be 25 to 26 years. The police said that the preliminary investigation revealed that the elephant died ten days ago. But it is not certain how the elephant died. The accused have stated that the elephant was dead when they went hunting. First, Johnny saw the dead body of the elephant in the forest and told the other accused. Thus, after the arrest of the main accused who are absconding, we will get information about another elephant tusk. The police have informed that the remains of the dead elephant have been sent to the laboratory. Recently, when Banashankari tried to sell elephant tusks in the 3rd phase, Ravikumar of Hairindyapanahalli village of Kanakapura taluk of Ramanagara district and Somasekar of Kulume Bhimasandra of Harohalli taluk were arrested. One elephant tusk weighing 25.5 kg was seized from the accused. In this case, the team led by Girinagar police station sub-inspector Manoj, who arrested the accused, took the accused to Mahajar in the forest of Kanakapura taluk. Officials said that the accused showed the remains of a dead elephant in the forest.
