BAGALKOT
A total of 12 nominations were filed by 17 candidates in seven assembly constituencies in the district, including a rebel BJP candidate. Six nominations were filed from Bagalkot, four from Badami, four from Hunagund, two from Mudhol, one from Teradal and no nominations were filed in Bilagi and Jamkhandi.
While Congress candidate Hullappa Meti filed two nominations from Bagalkot, Mallikarjun Charantimath from independent, Devaraj Patil from JD(S), Babusha Rolli from Karnataka Rashtra Samithi and Ramesh Badnoor from Aam Aadmi Party filed one nomination each. Bheemasen Chimmankatti filed his nomination papers as Congress candidate from Badami constituency and Maruthi Zamindar as Karnataka Janata Party candidate.
Shadaksharayya Navali Hiremath has filed two nominations as an independent candidate from Hunagund constituency, Desayagowda Mallanagouda from Karnataka Rashtra Samithi and Vijayananda Kashappanavar from Congress. RB Thimmapura has filed two nominations from Mudhol constituency on a Congress ticket. Ambadas Kamurthy filed one nomination as an independent candidate from Theradala constituency, District Election Officer P Sunil Kumar said.
Last week, BJP candidates from Mudhol, Bilagi and Teradal constituencies had filed their nominations. Siddu Savadi filed his nomination papers in Teradal constituency and Minister Murugesh Nirani filed his nomination papers at the tahsildar’s office in Bilagi. Nirani had also exuded confidence that bjp candidates would win in seven constituencies in Bagalkot district. Minister Govind Karjol has also filed his nomination from Mudhol constituency. I will give a chance to the youth ahead of my last election.
