The Kukke Shree Subrahmanya Temple has recorded an increase in its revenue in the financial year 2022â23. The temple netted Rs 123 crore during the period and is hoping to retain its position of being the richest temple in the State.
In 2022-23, the temple has recorded a revenue of Rs 123.65 Crore. The revenue is up by Rs 50 crore, when compared to the previous financial year.
A temple official told that, some of the sources through which revenue was generated include land- Rs 1.36 crore, building, shops Rs 1.20 crore, Kaanike, offerings Rs 6.25 crore, Interest Rs 16.16 crore, Sevas Rs 53.89 crore, Accommodation Rs 4.73 crore and hundi collection Rs 29.12 crore. The temple expenditure is an approximate Rs 63.77 crore. The temple has about 400 staff, of which 322 are permanent.
The temple had seen a dip in revenue in the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The temple was shut during the lockdown. In 2021â2022, the temple recorded a revenue of Rs 72.73 crore and in 2020-21, the total revenue was Rs 68.94 crore.
In 2019-20, the annual revenue of the temple was about Rs 98.92 crore and since 2006, the templeâs revenue has increased. From Rs 19.76 crore in 2006-07, the revenue increased to Rs 24.44 crore in 2007-08 and since then, the temple has been maintaining the top position in terms of revenue generation. There has been an increase in the number of devotees visiting the temple and hence the increase in revenue, said the official.
