Over 16,000 People Traveled On KR Puram, Whitefield New Metro Line On First Day

More than 16,000 passengers used the service of the newly inaugurated KR Puram – Whitefield Metro route on the first day, according to a report. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the metro line during his visit to Bangalore on Saturday. According to the report, 16,319 people traveled on the KR Puram – Whitefield Metro route between 7 AM and 6 PM on Sunday. The newly inaugurated Metro is an extension of the Purple Line Metro, which is yet to connect with Baiyappanahalli Metro Station. Works on the KR Puram-Byiyappanahalli Metro line are underway and the line is expected to be launched by the end of this year, it said. Prime Minister Modi has already inaugurated the 13.71 kilometer (km) extension of Bangalore Metro Phase 2 extension project from Whitefield Metro to KR Puram. According to BMRCL (Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited) it runs seven trains every 10 – 12 minutes. About Rs 4,250 crore has been spent to decongest and decongest the city. It is built on cost.
