The rope broken while trekking to Mahadeshwara hill crossing Kaveri River. Some people have rushed along the flowing water.
The incident took place near the Sangam of Kanakapura Taluk.
Every year thousands of people travel by foot to Mahadeswara hill. Crossing Kaveri River near Sangam is the nearby route to the hill. Thus, the devotees gather at Sangam and cross the river.
Similarly, devotees were crossing the river with the help of rope. This caused many to fall into the river and those who accompanied them rescued. However, the body of a woman was found in the Cauvery River near Balur. Many were injured in the incident.
