Bengaluru witnessed a meaningful community initiative on Sunday as a large blood donation camp was successfully conducted at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The programme was jointly organised by Giants Group of Garden City Bengaluru and Abhijit Bengeri Foundation (Regd.) with the aim of promoting voluntary blood donation and creating awareness about its importance in saving lives.

The camp was held on June 14, 2026, coinciding with World Blood Donor Day. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) extended venue support for the event, which took place from 9 am to 2 pm.

The initiative received an encouraging response from people across different walks of life. Youth, social workers, sports enthusiasts and members of the public actively participated in the camp and donated blood, contributing to the success of the programme.

Adding significance to the event, several well-known personalities from the cricketing fraternity also took part in the blood donation drive. Former India Test cricketer Dodda Ganesh, former India women’s Test cricketer Kalpana, and former Karnataka Ranji player K.N. Ramesh were among those who donated blood. Their participation inspired many others to come forward and support the cause.

Speaking during the event, organisers highlighted that blood donation remains one of the simplest and most effective forms of humanitarian service. They noted that a single unit of donated blood can help save multiple lives and stressed the continued need for adequate blood reserves in hospitals and emergency medical situations.

The organisers also acknowledged the support received from KSCA, blood donors, volunteers, supporters and partner organisations who helped make the event successful. They expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed their time and effort towards the noble cause.

The programme concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the message that regular voluntary blood donation plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare services and helping patients in need. The event successfully spread awareness about the importance of donating blood and strengthened the message that “Blood Donation is the Greatest Donation.”
