District in-charge minister Eshwar Khandre announced that electricity infrastructure projects worth nearly ₹1,100 crore are being implemented in Bidar district to strengthen the power supply system and improve energy reliability in the region. He made the announcement after laying the foundation stone for a 110/11 KV power substation at Goranalli (Chitta) village in Bidar taluk.

The programme was organised by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited as part of efforts to upgrade the district’s electricity network. The minister said that a major 440 KV power centre worth ₹700 crore, a 220 KV station worth ₹150 crore, and 16 new distribution substations costing ₹22 crore are planned under the project.

According to him, once these projects are completed within the next year, issues such as load shedding, power fluctuations, and transformer failures will be significantly reduced. He added that the upgraded infrastructure will ensure stable electricity supply for both domestic users and farmers across the district.

Eshwar Khandre also stated that the new power corridor will enable surplus electricity generated in Bidar to be transmitted to neighbouring regions including Kalaburagi, Hyderabad, and Goa. He highlighted that this will improve regional energy balance and strengthen inter-state power connectivity.

Encouraging renewable energy adoption, the minister urged farmers to consider using 3 to 4 acres of land for solar or wind energy projects. He said farmers could benefit by using free electricity for irrigation pumps while also earning income by selling excess power to the government.

MLA Dr. Shailendra Beldale said the new substation would ensure uninterrupted power supply to surrounding villages, including Shahpur, Malakapur, and Sultanpur. He noted that land-related legal hurdles had been resolved to enable smooth project execution.

Officials from KPTCL and GESCOM, along with engineers, staff, and local residents, were present during the foundation ceremony.
