Hundreds join colorful rally, celebrating people’s power and reaffirming Karnataka’s democratic spirit.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar flagged off a spirited bike rally at Kanteerava Stadium on Monday to mark the International Day of Democracy. The event, attended by hundreds of enthusiastic participants, was aimed at celebrating people’s power and reaffirming democratic values.
Riding his favourite Yezdi motorcycle, Shivakumar personally led the rally, symbolizing the connection between citizens and democracy’s forward journey. The rally, described as a “Pedals of Freedom – Path of Democracy,” drew large crowds, who gathered to cheer the participants and showcase their support for the democratic spirit.
Speaking at the occasion, Shivakumar said democracy thrives on people’s participation and collective strength. “Every citizen plays a role in driving our nation forward. Democracy is not just a system of governance—it is the energy, responsibility, and power of the people,” he said. He further added that the Congress party is committed to safeguarding democratic institutions and ensuring that the voices of all communities are heard. The rally was also positioned as a symbolic reminder that freedom and rights must be protected through active engagement and responsibility.
Party leaders, youth groups, and supporters joined the event, turning it into a colourful demonstration of democratic pride. Officials highlighted that such initiatives encourage civic awareness among younger generations, inspiring them to uphold democratic principles. The programme concluded with renewed calls to strengthen participatory governance and ensure that democracy remains vibrant in Karnataka and across India.
