Rajanna seeks clarity on Siddaramaiah leadership, cabinet reshuffle

BENGALURU

Senior Congress leader and former minister KN Rajanna on Tuesday urged the party high command to end the prevailing uncertainty in Karnataka politics, saying Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should either continue with authority or be allowed to reshuffle the cabinet.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Rajanna reiterated his earlier statement that political changes would take place in Karnataka during May, but clarified that he had never specified any deadline.

“I had said changes will happen in May. I did not mention May 20 or any specific date. Changes will happen not only in our party but also in other parties,” he said.

Rajanna noted that the ongoing political uncertainty was affecting governance and creating confusion among party workers, legislators and the public.

“There is a confusing situation now. The media has seen it, and the people have seen it too. That confusion must end. Siddaramaiah should either continue firmly as Chief Minister or be given an opportunity to reshuffle the cabinet,” he said.

The Congress MLA alleged that several party legislators had already travelled to Delhi to press the high command for a cabinet reshuffle and leadership clarity.

“Many MLAs have met senior leaders in Delhi and expressed their concerns. If the high command wants a leadership change, it should clearly say so. If not, they should say that too. Something definite must happen,” Rajanna remarked.

He warned that prolonged uncertainty could weaken the government and provide political space for the opposition.

“When confusion continues within the ruling party, the government cannot function effectively. This situation has given the opposition an opportunity to attack the government,” he said.

Rajanna maintained that a cabinet reshuffle would help strengthen governance and restore confidence among legislators.

He also referred to ongoing political developments in other states and said discussions within the Congress party were still evolving.

“The election process in five states is not yet complete. Even the Kerala Chief Minister issue is pending. Let those developments conclude first, and then we will see what happens politically,” he added.
