The forum began with the first edition at SSIFS, promoting Global South cooperation

External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar on Tuesday addressed the 3rd Global South Young Diplomats Forum, underlining the importance of solidarity and shared vision among Global South nations. He highlighted India’s strong commitment to representing, asserting, and amplifying the voice of the Global South on international platforms.
In a post on X, Dr Jaishankar shared his enthusiasm about engaging with the young diplomats attending the forum, which seeks to bring together emerging officers from foreign ministries across Global South countries. Delighted to interact with participants of the 3rd Global South Young Diplomats Forum, he said, adding that the discussions focused on the sentiment and collective purpose driving the Global South agenda.
The forum, part of a series aimed at fostering collaboration and dialogue, has its roots in the 1st Global South Young Diplomats Forum held at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, from November 20 to December 1, 2023. The inaugural edition included participants from thirty nations such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indonesia, Maldives, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bahrain, Oman, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, Seychelles, Tanzania, and Argentina.
The first edition was inaugurated by the former dean of SSIFS, Gaddam Dharmendra, and set the stage for meaningful exchanges among young diplomatic professionals. Through such initiatives, India continues to play a pivotal role in fostering dialogue, understanding, and cooperation among Global South nations, supporting their collective voice in shaping global decisions and policies.
Dr Jaishankar’s participation in the third edition reiterates India’s commitment to nurturing young talent, encouraging cross-country collaborations, and strengthening the shared objectives of the Global South in the international arena.
