Nottingham Forest sack head coach Nuno

Forest Coach Exit

NOTTINGHAM

Nottingham Forest have parted ways with head coach Nuno Espirito Santo just three matches into the new season, ending his 21-month spell at The City Ground. The decision follows reported tensions between Nuno and club owner Evangelos Marinakis over the summer, particularly regarding the pace of transfer activity.

Nuno had openly voiced his frustrations with the club’s handling of player acquisitions, criticizing the delays in finalizing signings. Despite these concerns, Forest eventually secured 13 new players during the summer window. Key late arrivals included Dilane Bakwa, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Nicolo Savona, who were seen as important reinforcements for the squad.

During his tenure, Nuno managed 62 Premier League fixtures, guiding the team to 26 victories, 13 draws, and 23 defeats. His leadership helped Forest qualify for European competitions this season, a notable achievement that many supporters considered a sign of progress. In a statement, the club confirmed the departure: Nottingham Forest Football Club confirms that, following recent circumstances, Nuno Espirito Santo has today been relieved of his duties as Head Coach. The club thanks Nuno for his contributions during a notably successful period at The City Ground.

Nuno, previously known for his successful stints with Wolverhampton Wanderers and abroad, leaves Forest with a mixed legacy—credited for stability and European qualification but undone by disagreements over recruitment. The club has yet to announce his successor, though speculation is already mounting over possible replacements.
