Sruthi Hariharan: I gave the nod to ‘Strawberry’ because of one crucial scene

Must read

Sruthi Hariharan’s return to acting has beckoned an exciting phase. Marking this with a crucial role in the upcoming gangster saga ‘Head Bush’, Sruthi gradually found her groove back with a slew of signings, each more enterprising than the other. One such role came about with the intriguing ‘Strawberry’ wherein she not only plays the lead but also collaborates with a team that’s young, fresh, and determined.
“I play a sex worker in the film who’s also a victim of abuse, and with the film being a thriller, the narrative follows her attempts to avenge the crime. While there have been a number of films already made in this subgenre, I was drawn to a particular sequence in the film that concerns this very aspect of revenge – I can’t divulge much about what happens there but I was so impressed by how my character goes about her act of vengeance that I couldn’t say no to it,” shares the ‘Lucia’ actor.
Previously, Sruthi Hariharan had shared that she is quite keen on playing grey characters and embodying human flaws in her pursuits. Be it the real-life person that she plays in ‘Head Bush’ or the one in ‘Strawberry’, the actor in her seems kicked about the juicy stuff that most grey characters come along with.
“There is something very exciting playing parts that live life on their own accord – devoid of convention and other pressures, they remain responsible for all the actions (good or bad) they take. And in the case of ‘Strawberry’, I was also impressed with the unusual structure of the screenplay that, in its own ways, is similar to that of ‘Lucia’. So, the film will work for those who love to watch stories told in unconventional ways. Arjun Lewis, who comes from Mangaluru, has got something exciting in store for everyone,” she adds.
‘Strawberry’ is part of Rakshit Shetty’s new production venture Paramvah Spotlight. The film also stars Dheekshit Shetty of ‘Dia’ fame along with Vineet Kumar, Chaithra Achar, and Vijay Mayya. Joel Shaman D’Souza handles cinematography, Prasad K. Shetty scores the music, and Rahul Vasishta serves as the editor. The film is currently in teh post-production phase.
