Water Release From July 15 From  Kabini Reservoir,  Minister ST Somashekhar

 Cooperation and District In-charge Minister ST Somasekhar said that 1 thousand cusecs of water will be pumped daily for ten days from July 15 to the tidy areas of Kabini Reservoir.

He spoke at the Irrigation Advisory Committee meeting chaired by the minister at the GIP office regarding the provision of water for the monsoon season of 2022.

First, water will be drained to fill the lake banks. Already  30% of the lakes are filled with water. The Minister suggested to drain the lakes for ten days and then drain the canals.

Water will be released to lakes from July 15 to 24 and canals from July 25 to August 14. Officials brought to the attention of the minister that water will be drained in the kattu system from August 15.

It has an area of ​​1,22,369 acres including 1,08,060 acres in Kabini reservoir and 14,309 acres in Hullahalli dam channel. There are more than 120 lakes in the reservoir area. The minister suggested that it should be ensured that the last lakes are filled.

As of July 12, the water level of the reservoir is 2282.51 feet and there is a storage of 8.74 TMC. Officials informed that there is an inflow of 34 thousand cusecs and an outflow of 35,333 cusecs.

MLAs Ashwin Kumar, Harshavardhan, Deputy Commissioner Dr Bagadi Gautam, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Poornima, Charmarajanagar Deputy Commissioner Charulatha Somal, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Gayathri and many other officials were present.
