BSF seizes heroin packet

Gurdaspur

On Thursday, Border Security Forces (BSF) and Punjab Police conducted a successful operation in Gurdaspur district, recovering a packet of suspected heroin. The operation was initiated based on information from two arrested smugglers, leading the team to the Kassowal Bulge area near the Ravi River. Along with the heroin packet, authorities also seized an Oppo smartphone and a Hero Splendor motorcycle. The smugglers, along with the recovered heroin, were handed over to the Gurdaspur police for further investigation.

This operation underscores the effective collaboration between BSF and Punjab Police in tackling drug trafficking in Punjab’s border regions. Earlier that day, officials in Fazilka district found an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), believed to have been delivered by a drone, containing RDX, batteries, and timers. The BSF has transferred the IED to the State Special Cell for investigation, and a case has been registered. Further updates are anticipated.
