Mangaluru

District Congress president Harish Kumar said, the government is confused over several issues in the state.

Addressing media conference  at Congress office here, he further said, the state government looks confused over PSI recruitment, text book row, and distribution of shoe, socks, and bicycles. Since three years, the government has shown no concern or taken any preventive measures regarding rain havoc in the district. In the last 10 days, the district has witnessed heavy downpour, but the district in-charge minister has not visited any rain affected area to conduct survey on the damage. Most of the agricultural land has been submerged and 5 deaths also took place in the district. The roads are in pathetic condition.

Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai is visiting the district. Meanwhile, he should visit the Smart City roads in Mangaluru. He should demand Rs 100 crore for the district and provide Rs 10 lac as compensation for the deceased, to restore roads, electric poles, and transformers immediately and also to repair the damaged school and college buildings. In the last 4 years, we demanded Rs 8,000 crore to state, but the central government managed to release only Rs 3,965 crore. The government does not take any decision until court, media and opposition exerts pressure, he said.

MLA UT Khader said, the government has no concern towards people. They have no humanity as well. People will answer in the coming days. The failure of MLAs and ministers led to the chief minister’s visit to flood-hit areas.

Former MLA Ramanath Rai said, the government should not be stingy to give away compensation to flood-hit areas in the district. They should distribute compensation on emergency basis for people whose house has been damaged in the rain.

MLC Manjunath Bhandary, Congress leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, Sahul Hameed, Lawrence D’Souza, Sadashiv Ullal and others were present.
