Shiradi Ghat Will Not Be Closed: CC Patil

Due to the maintenance of Shiradi ghat, which is a major link between Bengaluru and Mangalore, vehicular traffic will not be banned in this area this monsoon. But Public Works Minister CC Patil said that the road repair work will continue, he clarified.

Speaking to media persons at Sakaleshpur and Shiradi Ghat while inspecting the work of other bridges on the highway between Bangalore and Shiradi Ghat, he said that an average of 30 thousand vehicles pass through Shiradi Ghat every day. If the road is closed, it will be a serious problem for the public. Therefore, vehicular traffic will be allowed in one part and repair works will be allowed in the other part, only if absolutely necessary, one-way traffic will be checked, and there will be no restrictions on vehicular traffic at Shiradi Ghat as of now, sthe minister clarified.

 If roads or bridges get damaged due to rain or other natural calamities, there is no financial difficulty in carrying out repair work. The works will be carried out on priority basis today CC Patil explained.

 Local MLA Kumaraswamy, Senior Officials of National Highways Authority, Secretary of Public Works Department Dr. Krishna Reddy and other officials accompanied the minister during the highway inspection.
