A person cheated an young lady through Matrimonial Website saying that he is a Netherland based Doctor.
How it Happened?
Tejaswinagar based young lady shared her profile in a matrimonial website, through which on June 4, a person was introduced to her. He claimed that he is a Netherland based Doctor residing with his mother in Netherlands and is going to settle in India after his marriage.
Later, she also received a call from an unknown woman saying that “She is an Airport Officer at Delhi airport. Mother and Son have come from Netherlands and they have 2 crore Netherlands currency, for which GST is to be paid for its conversion to Indian currency otherwise as per Money Laundering Act both Mother and Son would be arrested.”
Further, the unknown call from woman threatened Dharwad based young lady that, a total of 5.94 lakh should be transferred to meet the expenses of Mother and Son’s travel to Bengaluru from Delhi and GST for currency conversion and so on. Accordingly the young lady was cheated as she transferred a total amount of 5.94 lakh.
A case has been registered in Cyber Crime Police Station.
