Slug : AI for well-being
MUMBAI
India has officially become the world leader in using artificial intelligence for health. A new report reveals that a massive 85% of Indian consumers are already using AI tools to manage their well-being, leaving countries like the US and UK far behind.
While the global average for AI health adoption sits at 60%, India’s rate is nearly double that of Japan (34%) and significantly higher than the United Kingdom (43%) and the United States (50%). This rapid shift shows that Indians are increasingly comfortable using digital technology to stay healthy.
The study, which surveyed 13,000 people across 15 countries, found that younger people are leading the charge. About 78% of Gen Z and 71% of Millennials use AI for medical tasks. Currently, most people use these tools through fitness wearables or chatbots to ask simple questions. However, users are now looking for “smarter” AI that can actually book doctor appointments, manage prescriptions, and check for dangerous drug interactions.
Despite the tech boom, patients aren’t ready to say goodbye to human doctors. Most people prefer a “hybrid” model where AI assists doctors with tricky tasks, like reading test results or tracking long-term illnesses, rather than replacing them entirely. As the technology grows, India’s healthcare system is expected to become one of the most digitally advanced in the world.
