Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling coach praises young pace duo after RR thrashing

Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain produced dream debut performances for Sunrisers Hyderabad, each claiming four wickets to power a dominant win over Rajasthan Royals in their IPL 2026 clash. The young pace duo dismantled the opposition batting line-up, setting the tone for a comprehensive victory and offering SRH a much-needed boost to their bowling unit.

Bowling coach Varun Aaron was full of praise for the debutants, calling their performances “massive” given their limited exposure at the highest level. He said the team management had encouraged both players to express themselves freely and enjoy the occasion, which reflected in their fearless approach with the ball.

Praful, 24, struck early blows with a sensational opening spell, removing three top-order batters in quick succession and breaking the backbone of the Royals’ innings. His ability to generate movement and maintain a disciplined line left the opposition reeling inside the powerplay. Sakib, meanwhile, delivered a clinical spell at the death, shutting down any hopes of a late resurgence.

Aaron credited the franchise’s scouting and selection group for backing domestic talent and trusting their assessment of the squad’s deeper pool. He highlighted that players like Praful and Sakib had shown consistent promise in domestic cricket, and the IPL stage merely gave them the platform to deliver on that potential.

The coach also mentioned injured pacer Omkar Tarmale as another promising name in the setup, noting that injuries had delayed his opportunities but not diminished his importance to the squad’s long-term plans. He emphasized that SRH’s bowling strategy was built on identifying X-factor players capable of changing games in short bursts.

Player-of-the-Match Praful later revealed that he had confidence against in-form batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi, whom he dismissed for a duck. He admitted that he had faced the opener before in domestic cricket and backed himself to repeat the success at IPL level.

Aaron also shared a tactical insight from the match, noting that Praful initially wanted to switch angles against Suryavanshi but was advised to stick to an over-the-wicket approach. The execution proved decisive as the ball seamed just enough to induce mistakes from the top order.

With this emphatic win, SRH strengthened their campaign in IPL 2026, while the emergence of two new pace prospects has given the team renewed confidence heading into the remainder of the tournament.
