Tottenham sack interim coach amid poor run, survival hopes hanging in balance

London

Tottenham Hotspur have parted ways with interim head coach Igor Tudor after just seven matches, leaving the club without a manager at a critical stage of their Premier League survival fight.

The decision, described as mutual, comes only 44 days after Tudor’s appointment on February 14. His departure follows a dismal run of results, with Spurs losing five of his seven games, including a damaging 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest before the international break.

Tottenham currently sit just one point above the relegation zone with seven matches remaining, placing their near five-decade stay in England’s top flight under serious threat. The club last played outside the top division in the 1977–78 season.

Tudor’s tenure also included a disappointing exit from the UEFA Champions League, where Spurs were knocked out in the round of 16 by Atletico Madrid. A heavy 5-2 defeat in the first leg drew particular criticism, as did his controversial early substitution of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.

Off the pitch, the club expressed sympathy for Tudor following the recent death of his father, acknowledging the personal challenges he faced during his short stint in London.

Attention now turns to finding a replacement capable of steering Spurs to safety. Among the reported candidates are Roberto De Zerbi, Adi Hütter, and Sean Dyche, while former player Ryan Mason could once again step in as caretaker.

Tottenham’s struggles this season have been marked by instability. Tudor was brought in after the dismissal of Thomas Frank, who had replaced Ange Postecoglou earlier in the campaign but failed to deliver consistent results.

The team is currently enduring a 13-match winless run in the league and recently suffered the worst losing streak in the club’s 144-year history.

With time running out, Spurs face an urgent need for leadership and stability as they battle to preserve their Premier League status and avoid a historic relegation.
