Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai reiterated the State Government’s commitment to help the working classes through the budgetary programmes and grants.
Addressing the State-level Leather Artistans Conference and Exhibition cum Sale organised by the State Social Welfare Department and Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram Leather Industries Development Corporation at the Bangalore Palace Grounds on Friday, he said the government was committed to bring about social transformation through education, jobs and empowerment of the Dalits.
The State Government is implementing special programmes for the betterment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, he said.
The Chief Minister said the social system is opposed to change and societal transformation and is more interested in maintaining the status quo. The Constitution, however, wants to ensure and guarantee equal opportunities and equality and it is the responsibility of the political establishment to realise the constitutional mandate.
Bommai urged the working classes, especially downtrodden and neglected sections of society to make use of the programmes implemented by the government to ensure that they rise and grow in the mainstream of society.
He said the State Government stood by empowerment of the people of all classes and was always ready respond to any constructive suggestions.
