Raichur
Taking exception to a comment from MLA Shivaraj Patil over the lack of development in Narayanpet Assembly Constituency in neighbouring Telangana, Narayanpet MLA SR Reddy of TDP has said that Patil has no moral right to criticise him over the issue of development.
Speaking to media persons, Reddy said that Patil himself has failed to fulfil the promises he made to the people of Raichur that he will take up development works in his constituency.
He said that Patil has not made any contribution towards development of his constituency and consequently, he did not have any moral right to criticise others.
“Let him point out at least one work he has implemented for the benefit of the general public. I have put in efforts to make Narayanpet a district headquarters. I am providing potable drinking water to the citizens of Narayanpet. I have also executed road works worth Rs. 83 crore,” he said and sought to know what Patil has done for people’s welfare in Raichur in the last nine years.
Reddy said that as he has been residing in Raichur for the last 43 years, he knew everything about the city. Patil has been lying to the people about development and saying that he will bring an airport and textile park to the city, he said and sought to know where were the projects.
In a programme held recently at Narayanpet, Patil is said to have mentioned about the lack of development in Narayanpet and that he will campaign against Reddy in the next election. “Patil should understand that he is a servant of the people, not a king. If he tries to defeat me in the next Assembly election, I will also make all-out efforts to defeat him,” he said.
