Must read

Bengaluru Rural district police have seized 51 vehicles involved in dangerous road stunts, including wheelies, on Tumakuru and Kolar highways.
While Nelamangala police seized 31 vehicles, Hoskote police cracked down on 20. “Eight riders have been detained under the Motor Vehicles Act for wheelies and they haven’t been released yet,” additional superintendent of police Lakshmi Ganesh told TOI.

“For the group of boys, this is a regular practice during the festive season every year. The group brings vehicles to the streets and creates a lot of noise and commotion on the highways, thereby putting fellow motorists and pedestrians at risk,” said an officer from Hosakote police station.
Police are in the process of verifying if the seized vehicles were stolen by the detainees. “If they are found guilty of theft, they won’t be released anytime soon and we will lodge an FIR,” Ganesh added.

Nelamangala subdivision saw seizure of 30 motorcycles and one autorickshaw, out of which five don’t have number plates, whereas Hoskote police have taken 17 motorcycles and three autorickshaws in their custody.
All youngsters
The detained persons are a little above 18. Police said since their wheeling adventures are always scheduled around this time of the year, they were prepared for the operation. On the night of April 28, the police team was ready on NH-48 to put an end to the menace. Residents too had been complaining about the nuisance caused by the youngsters.
The operation was led by superintendent of police (Bengaluru Rural) K Vamsikrishna, additional superintendent of police (Bengaluru Rural) Lakshmi Ganesh, and superintendent of police KC Gautam of Nelamangala subdivision.
