PSI re-examination – Political leaders differ in opinion, passed candidates protest

Must read

Candidates who had cleared the PSI recruitment examination honestly have raised their voices against the re-examination ordered by the ruling BJP government. These candidates have approached the leaders of opposition parties seeking their intervention in the matter.
Candidates who have failed in the written examination have welcomed the announcement of re-examination. However, those who have cleared are utterly against conducting the examinations once again.

There is a difference of opinion among political leaders also in the issue. Home minister Araga Jnanendra defended the decision and said that the government had no alternative but to hold re-examination for the written test part for all candidates who have cleared the physical fitness test.

Jnanendra said, “Government has ordered re-examination for written test in order to provide justice to the candidates who have answered the examinations honestly. This will be convenient for eligible candidates. Even failed candidates will get one more chance. There will not be a re-examination for physical fitness. Only the written examination will be held again.”

KPCC president D K Shivakumar said, “This is a huge scam by BJP. They have cancelled the examination in order to safeguard their leaders. They have collected Rs 80 lac each for every post. Now in order to cover up the name of their party leaders, they have ordered a re-examination. This has meted out injustice to those who have written the examination honestly.”

The candidates who have failed the examination have welcomed the decision. They said, “The scam that is done in Kalaburagi centre has only come to light.
What is the guarantee that no scam has occurred in other centres? Thanks to corruption, candidates are given bluetooth and other electronic gadgets to clear the examination. If the examination was held honestly, even we would have cleared. Most of the 545 candidates selected have got the posts after bribing the officials concerned.”

On the contrary, candidates who have cleared the examination said, “Government has decided to hold re-examination for the written part due to pressure from influential political leaders. But the government has to withdraw this decision. We have studied for years together and have written this examination honestly. Only because a handful of candidates are involved in the scam, it is not right to point fingers at everyone. In addition, how it is decided that all 545 selected candidates are involved in the scam without holding an investigation? Inquiry has to be conducted in phases. Now 250 candidates are being interrogated. Only a few among them have been arrested. Still inquiry of 300 candidates is pending. The decision of re-examination by the government has caused injustice to us. We will approach the court.”
