CP Yogeshwar resigned from his position as a Council member on Monday. The resignation was submitted at the house of Speaker Basavaraj Horatti in Deshapande Nagar after Yogeshwar arrived at Hubli Airport from Bangalore. Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti confirmed that the resignation was accepted.
Yogeshwar stated that he resigned to be with the people as Kumaraswamy, the current MLA from Channapatnam, is now a Union Minister. A by-election is taking place in that constituency, and Yogeshwar expressed his desire to contest in the upcoming assembly elections.
He noted that he had not been contacted by the Congress party and requested an opportunity from BJP leaders. Yogeshwar mentioned that there is a belief that the BJP will win the by-election, and he asked for the chance to compete. He stated that party leaders have supported him regarding the ticket issue and expressed hope for a response soon.
Yogeshwar stated that he has worked with the BJP and wishes to remain with the party as an NDA candidate. He mentioned that party tickets should be awarded based on experience. If this does not happen, he indicated a willingness to run as an independent candidate. He emphasized that he has no plans to join the Congress party and reiterated that no one from that party has reached out to him. Yogeshwar concluded by expressing a wait-and-see approach regarding future developments.
