New Delhi
The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is set to organize a two-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ in Bhubaneswar today and tomorrow, aiming to discuss strategies to meet India’s green energy goals. The key target is to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 and progress toward 1,800 GW by 2047.
The event will be inaugurated by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and attended by prominent figures such as Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Yesso Naik. Senior officials from the MNRE and the Odisha government will also participate.
The gathering will bring together decision-makers, financial institutions, industrial leaders, and government officials to discuss key issues in renewable energy (RE). Sessions will cover important topics such as the ‘Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana,’ solar and wind manufacturing, and the challenges of land and transmission infrastructure for renewable energy plants.
On the second day, discussions will include strategies for energy storage, bioenergy, small hydro power, and the future of green hydrogen. A new report also highlights India’s growth in the export of solar products, with exports increasing 23 times to $2 billion in FY 2024, signaling India’s shift from being a net importer to a net exporter of solar products.
