2,36,402 voters, 253 polling booths in Sandur segment

In the Sandur constituency, 236,402 voters are qualified to vote at 253 designated polling stations, with the election scheduled for Wednesday to choose their representative.
The district returning officer and Deputy Commissioner, Prashant Kumar Mishra, confirmed that the district administration completed all preparations to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling.
The constituency comprises 1,17,935 male voters, 1,18,438 female voters, and 29 minority gender voters. Among the 253 polling stations, 68 are in urban areas and 185 in rural areas. Special arrangements include 2 Sakhi booths, 1 differently-abled polling booth, and 1 youth booth. Authorities identified 60 critical booths: 17 in Sandur, 27 in Torangallu, and 16 in Choranur. 127 polling stations are equipped with webcasting facilities.
The Deputy Commissioner said that 1,215 officials were assigned electoral duties, including 304 polling officers, 304 Presiding Officers and 608 APROs. Additional security measures are in place at sensitive booths, with healthcare staff present at each polling centre.
The election will utilise 324 ballot units, 324 control units, and 379 VVPAT units, with additional backup units installed. Post-polling, the voting machines will be de-mustered at the Govt First Grade Degree College in Sandur town before being transferred to the Govt Polytechnic College in Ballari. Vote counting is scheduled for Nov 23.
SP Dr Shobharani VJ confirmed comprehensive security arrangements with 1,036 police personnel deployed.
Since November 1, authorities seized Rs 34,15,598 in cash and 2,923.9 litres of liquor valued at Rs 9,49,537. Officials registered 135 cases and arrested 116 persons. Three model code of conduct violations resulted in the impounding of a car and a crane. The Superintendent of Police  confirmed that 20 complaints filed through C-Vigil software were resolved.
