The police crime dog ‘Siri’ took her last breath. A final tribute and burial with police honors were conducted for Siri, aged 8, at the city’s police parade ground. Under the leadership of District Superintendent of Police M Puttamadaiah, district-level officials paid their respects by placing floral wreaths on Siri’s body, with police personnel firing a salute in her honor.
Siri, a Doberman born in 2016, joined the police force in 2017 after completing training in Bengaluru, along with her handler Jayakumar and Sharanbasava.
Throughout her career, Siri played a vital role in solving several cases of theft, murder, and robbery in the district. In 2022, she was instrumental in tracking suspects in a post office theft in the Manvi police station area. Siri even won first place in the state-level Police Duty Meet. She answered 171 calls for service during her career, according to a police statement.
Siri had been suffering from age-related health issues in recent days. She refused food for two days before passing away.
Additional District Superintendent of Police Shivakumar, Harish, and DYSP (DAR) Pramod Ghodge, along with DAR officers and personnel, were present at the ceremony.
