Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov on Monday highlighted the growing business relations between Russia and India despite external economic pressures. Speaking at the India-Russia Business Forum in Mumbai, Manturov emphasized future cooperation in the transport and nuclear sectors as key areas of focus.
The forum, held ahead of the 25th Session of the Intergovernmental Russian-Indian Commission, aimed to foster stronger business ties between the two countries. Discussions covered industrial collaboration, digital technologies, finance, transport, and logistics, among other sectors.
India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar noted the deep friendship between India and Russia and pointed to new opportunities created by Russia’s increased focus on Asia. Jaishankar also expressed confidence in achieving a bilateral trade target of USD 100 billion by 2030, despite the current trade imbalance. He stressed the need to address non-tariff barriers to smooth trade flow.
Manturov outlined several priority areas for cooperation, including advancements in the transport industry with unmanned technologies, the nuclear sector, and healthcare, particularly nuclear medicine and medical devices. He also emphasized the importance of the “Make in India” program and Russia’s push for technological sovereignty, both of which aim to accelerate production and innovation.
The two leaders are set to co-chair the 25th session of the India-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in New Delhi today, signaling continued commitment to strengthening bilateral ties across multiple sectors.
