Kushalnagar ‘ A woman from the Kodava community in Kushalnagar has filed a complaint alleging encroachment attempts and threats on her property by muslim individuals claiming it as Wakf property.
Renuka Uthappa of Mullusoge near Kushalnagar submitted a written complaint to Kodagu SP and Kallichanda Vishnukaryappa, president of the Balugod Kodava Societies Federation. Copies of the complaint were also sent to the Chief Minister of Karnataka and home minister.
Renuka stated that her father purchased a 36-cent property in 1984 from Maneyapanda Bopanna in Mullusoge, where her family has been residing since. Renuka, currently based in Bengaluru for her work, frequently visits the Mullusoge property.
On October 25, two men allegedly entered her property unlawfully, claiming it belonged to the Wakf Board. When she questioned them, they reportedly threatened her, mentioning that 15 others were waiting outside. They fled when she warned she would call the police, but threatened to return in larger numbers.
In response, the Kodava Societies Federation has appealed to relevant authorities to provide protection and take measures to curb such incidents, ensuring community safety and justice.
Kushalnagar police registered a case and investigation is on.
