State BJP President BY Vijayendra has accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of tarnishing the dignity of the Chief Minister’s Office, a symbol of Karnataka’s sovereignty, by facing a Lokayukta investigation over the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case.
Speaking on Wednesday, Vijayendra criticized Siddaramaiah, calling him the “first accused” in the MUDA scam. He said, “The entire nation is watching as you hold onto your position despite being under investigation for corruption.” He added that Siddaramaiah had avoided discussions in the Assembly regarding the scandal and now speaks on corruption as though he were an authority on morality.
Vijayendra also accused Siddaramaiah’s family of cheating a Dalit family to acquire land, which was later misused by MUDA for personal gain. He questioned why, if Siddaramaiah had done nothing wrong, he hurriedly returned the MUDA plots without any conditions. “If you are innocent, why resist a transparent investigation?” Vijayendra said, criticizing the CM for defending corruption while claiming honesty.
Vijayendra further pointed out that the Governor had granted permission for prosecution against Siddaramaiah, which was appealed but dismissed by the High Court. The Lokayukta is investigating, and a writ petition has been filed in the High Court seeking a CBI inquiry. He expressed doubts about the thoroughness of the investigation, given Siddaramaiah’s position.
