Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and New Zealand’s seasoned player Daryl Mitchell have jumped into the top 10 in the ICC Test rankings on Wednesday, thanks to their strong performances in the recent Mumbai Test.

Pant rose five places to secure the sixth spot among Test batters after his solid half-centuries, bringing him close to his career-high fifth rank, last achieved in July 2022.

Mitchell saw an impressive rise as well, climbing eight spots to seventh, following his 82-run innings in the first innings. He now joins New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, who holds second place. England’s Joe Root remains at the top, with Williamson, Harry Brook, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Steve Smith rounding out the top five. India’s Shubman Gill also made gains, moving to 16th after scoring 90 in the first innings.

New Zealand’s Will Young, named Player of the Series, soared 29 places to 44th overall.

In bowling, India’s Ravindra Jadeja moved to sixth after taking 10 wickets against New Zealand. Washington Sundar also rose, now at 46th, while New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel and Ish Sodhi advanced to 22nd and 70th, respectively. South African spinner Keshav Maharaj reached 19th with a notable 13-wicket haul against Bangladesh.

In ODIs, West Indies’ Shai Hope climbed to 12th, and England’s Liam Livingstone made a leap to 58th. Pace bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Mitchell Starc improved in the ODI bowler rankings, now fourth and 14th, respectively.
