In a heartwarming display of love and resilience, a 64-year-old grandmother has donated her kidney to her nine-year-old grandson, who has been struggling with a chronic renal condition. The successful transplant took place at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital in Deralakatte on October 3. Just four days post-surgery, the grandmother was discharged, while her grandson left the hospital on October 14.
The young boy faced numerous challenges and required ongoing medical support before beginning his recovery journey. Thanks to the timely intervention and a perfect match from his grandmother, he now has a new lease on life. The medical team expressed their satisfaction with the boy’s progress and highlighted the crucial role of organ donation in saving lives.
