Four renowned doctors from city, all aged above 50, went on a bicycle pilgrimage to Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi and Sammed Shikharji in the Giridih district of Jharkhand, seeking a spiritual experience.
Dr Pamajeet A Nadagoudapatil (50), Dr Yatesh Pujar (60), Dr Satish Bagewadi (59) and Sanjay Ammanagimath (50) participated in this spiritual cycle journey. The doctors stated that they began their journey from Rabkavi in Bagalkot on October 14 and reached Kashi on October 21. They then travelled to Sammed Shikharji, arriving on October 23, and completing the journey in 10 days.
According to the doctors, they cycled approximately 180-200 km per day, traversing six states. They had a supporting staff, and a cookriders throughout the entire journey. The doctors explained that it was a devotional visit. The Parasnath Hill (27 km) at Shri Sammed Shikharji is the place where 20 of the 24 Tirthankaras attained moksha through meditation. They said the cycle journey taught them that with determination, one can achieve wonders, and age is not a limiting factor. They practised for months to undertake this arduous journey.
