In response to escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has called for comprehensive measures to safeguard Korean nationals in the affected regions. The presidential office announced this directive on Saturday.
The situation intensified earlier in the day when Israel conducted airstrikes against Iran following a series of ballistic missile attacks from the Islamic Republic earlier this month.
President Yoon emphasized that the protection of Korean citizens in Iran and Israel is the government’s top priority. He instructed officials to prepare for potentially worsening conditions and to devise necessary measures. To facilitate this, the government will establish a 24/7 task force dedicated to monitoring developments in the Middle East and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
