On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi led a delegation of Congress leaders to congratulate Mallikarjun Kharge on his two-year anniversary as president of the Indian National Congress (INC). Accompanied by senior leaders like Ajay Maken and Rajeev Shukla, Rahul visited Kharge’s home, bringing cakes and bouquets to celebrate this significant milestone.
Since morning, messages of support and congratulations have poured in for Kharge, who has been recognized for his dedicated leadership. The Congress party highlighted his unwavering commitment to social justice and democracy, stating that his journey from a student union leader to INC president is truly inspiring. They noted that his efforts to uphold India’s secular values and promote inclusive politics offer hope to many.
Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal also praised Kharge’s leadership, crediting him for strengthening the party amid challenges. He pointed out that under Kharge’s guidance, Congress has effectively countered the BJP-RSS alliance, and his extensive experience has greatly empowered the party.
Since becoming the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha in 2021, Kharge has helped the party regain significant ground, increasing its Lok Sabha seats from 52 to 99 in the upcoming 2024 elections. The celebration reflects the party’s appreciation for Kharge’s impactful leadership during a critical period.
