Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati delivered a thrilling performance to secure pole position at the Thailand Grand Prix, setting a new lap record with a stunning time of 1:28.700. His blistering final lap made him the first rider to dip below 89 seconds at the Buriram circuit on Saturday, marking a new milestone in MotoGP.

Bagnaia’s pole lap was not only the fastest but also the only time in the 1:28s besides his Ducati teammate Enea Bastianini, who finished just 0.232 seconds behind. This dominant display puts Ducati in a strong position for the race, with Bastianini taking second on the grid.

Jorge Martin, Bagnaia’s main rival in the championship, secured the final spot on the front row. However, his qualifying ended dramatically after a crash on his last lap. Despite the setback, Martin remains a contender in the race, with Bagnaia now only 20 points behind him in the championship standings.

Marc Marquez topped FP2 earlier but crashed during Q2, finishing in P5. Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo and Marco Bezzecchi secured solid positions, with Bezzecchi leading the second row in fourth and Quartararo starting sixth.

Pedro Acosta, in a standout rookie performance, will begin in seventh place, while Fabio Di Giannantonio starts in eighth. Alex Marquez rounds out the third row in ninth place.

Further down the grid, Franco Morbidelli and Johann Zarco both suffered falls and finished 11th and 12th. The Red Bull KTM team had a challenging session, with Brad Binder and Jack Miller starting 13th and 15th, while Aleix Espargaro faces an uphill battle from 14th.
