Activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) protested in front of the office of the City Police Commissioner. They demanded that Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) should not be permitted to conduct a bicycle rally observing ‘Black Day’ on November 1. They warned that if permission is granted, a statewide agitation will be held.

Hundreds of KRV activists gathered in front of the police commissioner’s office, insisting that MES should not be allowed to observe Black Day for any reason during Karnataka Rajyotsava. Every year, the police department and officials work to curtail Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations by issuing permits to MES to observe Black Day at the last moment, they alleged. This time, through strict measures, they demanded that MES leaders should be exiled to the border by denying permission.
KRV District President Deepak Gudaganatti stated that every year KRV protests and requests that Black Day should not be allowed, but police grant permission.  This time, police should respect the stance of KRV activists and Kannadigas and issue strict instructions to MES. MES leaders who approach the department seeking permission should be deported and detained until the end of Rajyotsava. If MES is given permission to observe Black Day, it will lead to a serious conflict. No Black Day should take place without the permission of the City Police Commissioner, he said.
Marathi and Kannada speakers live in harmony and in the name of language, MES is working to disrupt this. Strict action should be taken to control their activities, he said.
The office bearers of KRV, including Suresh Gavannavar, Ganesh Rokhade, Dasharath Banoshi, Balu Jadagi, Mahadevi Kurubet, Madhu Itagi, Rupali Barigaddi, Rekha Lokhari, and Holeppa Suladhal took part in the protest.
